Tennis: Millers & ‘Rocks each advance to Sectional 56 championship

The Noblesville and Westfield boys tennis teams both advanced to the Sectional 56 championship with semifinal wins on Wednesday at the Millers’ tennis complex.

The No. 17-ranked Shamrocks beat Hamilton Heights 5-0, with the No. 24-ranked Millers sweeping Lapel 5-0. All of the matches were won in straight sets. Westfield and Noblesville play for the championship at 4:30 p.m. today.

Westfield 5, Hamilton Heights 0

No. 1 singles: Alex Sagarra def. Kamden Colter 6-0, 6-0

No. 2 singles: Parker Paramoure def. Gabe Roosa 6-1, 6-0

No. 3 singles: Jake Juntgen def. Elliot Meister 6-0, 6-1

No. 1 doubles: Jack Dietz and Gavin Dietz def. Jon Houser and Logan Bragg 6-1, 6-0

No. 2 doubles: Jay Hostetter and Parker Gibbs def. Luke Steffen and Owen Biddle 6-1, 6-0

 

Play at the other two Hamilton County sectional sites were interrupted by rain on Wednesday and will resume this afternoon.

In Sectional 35 action at Carmel’s Todd Witsken Tennis Center, the No. 1 Greyhounds are playing No. 10 Guerin Catholic, with University taking on No. 4 Zionsville. Matches resume at 4:50 p.m., with the championship match on Friday.

Over at Sectional 31 at Fishers, the No. 14 Tigers are leading No. 21 Hamilton Southeastern 2-0, with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches. The other three matches will resume at 5 p.m. today, with the championship match on Friday.
