The Lady Millers, coached by Shannon Loomis and Stephanie Davis, dominated Level 2 Women’s Basketball, finishing the tournament undefeated and capturing first place. Their performance showcased teamwork, resilience, and the kind of joy that defines Special Olympics competition.
On the men’s side, the SOHC Men’s Level 2 Team, coached by AB Buckner and Todd Hieber, also secured a State Championship with an undefeated tournament run, demonstrating grit, unity, and outstanding play throughout the weekend.
Adding to the energy of the day, the SOHC Cheer and POM Squad, led by Kim Weninger, supported the athletes throughout the tournament and performed a halftime routine that brought spirit and excitement to the championship atmosphere.
Special Olympics Hamilton County serves more than 500 athletes, providing year-round sports training and competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities, ages 8 to 108. All programming is offered free of charge to athletes and their families, made possible through the generosity of donors, sponsors, and volunteers.
With spring sports now beginning, including track and field, SOHC is actively seeking volunteers to support athletes across programs.
Looking ahead, SOHC will host its annual Golf Fundraiser on Aug. 26, 2026, at Fox Prairie Golf Course, with registration opening soon. The event supports athlete programming and opportunities across Hamilton County.
“This weekend is what it’s all about—athletes showing up, competing hard, and celebrating everyone together,” said Danyele Easterhaus, SOHC County Coordinator. “We are incredibly proud of these teams and the community that stands behind them.”
