Southeastern swimmers start road trip with wins

The Hamilton Southeastern swim teams began a three-day trip to Southern Indiana with wins over Bedford North Lawrence and Jasper on Thursday.
The Royal boys teams beat BNL 140-46 and Jasper 144-40. The team responded to a challenge from Coach Pedersen at the diving break to increase their level of engagement and the team will bring great momentum into tomorrow’s dual with a very good Bloomington South team.
Individual winners were: Blake Ratliff (200 freestyle), Connor Harrison (individual medley and butterfly), DJ Rogers (50 free), Andrew Christopher (100 free), Ethan Christopher (500 free), and Andrew Truxall (breaststroke). Other solid swims included Keegan Streett in the butterfly and Justin Voelker and Andrew Ratliff in the 500.
The HSE girls also responded in a big way to a challenge from Coach P to improve attitude and engagement and got better as the afternoon went on, beating host Jasper 140-46 and Bedford North Lawrence 140-45. The Royals won every event and took first and second in all three relays. Individual winners were Molly Pedersen (200 free), Ellie Pedersen (IM), Emily Barnes (50 free), Sarah Ballard (diving), Hannah Pugh (butterfly), Olivia Vicory (100 free), Kayleigh Witt (500 free), Abby Harter (backstroke), and Madison Kertin (breaststroke).
