Softball: Millers beat Zionsville for home win

The Noblesville softball team beat Zionsville 6-0 on Wednesday for a home Hoosier Crossroads Conference victory.

Haley Schatko hit a third-inning home run to score the Millers’ first two runs, also bringing in Zadie Brown. Noblesville added four more runs in the fourth inning: Bella

Hughes singled in Brown and Kyra Means, then Maggie Kern sent Hughes and Izzy Zapp home with a single.

Schatko, Kern and Brown all totaled two hits. Roslyn Ervin pitched six innings for the win, striking out six.

The Millers are 5-1 in the conference and 17-6 overall. Noblesville hosts Avon tonight in its HCC and regular-season finales.

Fishers dropped an HCC game at Franklin Central Wednesday 8-7.

Kennedy Shockley was 3-for-4 at the plate, including a home run in the fifth inning. Shockley batted in two runs and scored three. Anna McGrath also hit 3-for-4 and batted in two runs.

Caroline Smock pitched 5.2 innings, striking out six.

The Tigers are 1-5 in the conference and 14-9 overall. Fishers hosts Brownsburg this evening for its HCC and regular-season finales.

Westfield lost an HCC game at Avon 3-1 Wednesday.

The Shamrocks scored their run in the third inning. Dylan Todd led off with a double and scored on an error.

Westfield was held to three hits; Alyssa Ayers hit a double and Sofia Easterhaus hit a single. Olivia Sampia pitched a complete game, striking out six.

The Rocks are 2-5 in the conference and 12-10-1 overall. Westfield plays at McCutcheon tonight to finish the regular season.
