The matchups are set for today’s girls tennis sectional championships after semifinals were played at all three Hamilton County sectional sites on Wednesday.
Fishers hosted Sectional 31, and the No. 14 Tigers advanced to the final by beating Mudsock rival and No. 30-ranked Hamilton Southeastern 4-1. Fishers will play Pendleton Heights in today’s championship.
The Tigers won all three singles matches. No. 1 Allison Briggs and No. 2 Ryan Bell won in straight sets, while No. 3 Addie Sharp took her match in a third-set super tiebreak. Fishers’ Imani Mokra and Lucy Clark won the No. 1 doubles match, while the Royals’ Meredith Walters and Lucy Denton won the No. 2 doubles match.
Sectional 35 host and No. 3-ranked Carmel beat No. 13 Zionsville 4-1 to reach the final at the Todd Witsken Tennis Center. The Greyhounds will play No. 1 Guerin Catholic, a 4-1 winner over University.
The Golden Eagles won their matches in straight sets. No. 2 Cece Phillips and No. 3 Anna Kolb were singled winners, while the doubles teams of No. 1 Abbigail Quigley and Katie Kolb and No. 2 Maddy Hood and Grace Docktor were also victorious.
University No. 1 singles Laurel Buttrick won her match 6-2, 6-4 and will advance to the individual tournament.
Carmel’s wins came from No. 1 singles Olivia Widjaja and No. 2 singles Alexia Widjaja. As for doubles, No. 1 Madison Littell and Gabby Hall and No. 2 Brylie Price and Shravya Pillutla were winners.
Westfield and Sectional 56 host Noblesville both advanced to the final of that sectional. The No. 10 Shamrocks beat Hamilton Heights 5-0 while the Millers defeated Lapel 4-1.
