The Noblesville Cultural Arts Commission continues its Vintage Film Series this month with It’s the Old Army Game (1926), starring W.C. Fields and Louise Brooks.

A pharmacist (Fields) has a dream of getting ahead in the world. His neighbors annoy him, the fire department destroys his place, he wrecks the porch on his house, and finally he had a chance to make good on a real estate deal.

Long thought to be a lost film, this was rediscovered around 1970 and is now available again. If the plot sounds familiar, that’s because it was re-used in The Pharmacist (1933) and It’s a Gift (1934). Don’t worry … it’s still a blast.

It’s the Old Army Game will air this Saturday, Sept. 27 at Preservation Hall, 1274 Logan St., Noblesville. Doors open at 7 p.m., and showtime is 7:30 p.m.

Admission is free, and complimentary popcorn and beverages will be served.
