The Hamilton Southeastern girls soccer team is in a familiar position to start the 2025 season.
The Royals are ranked No. 1 in Class 3A in the pre-season polls released by the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association. Southeastern returns several Division I recruits for this year’s team and only graduated seven seniors from last year’s squad, which finished with a 15-1-3 record.
Royals coach Greg Davidson listed six players who have all committed to play at Division I schools following their senior season this year. The list begins with Sloane May, a First Team All-American who is headed to Michigan. She led HSE in assists last year with 11 and also scored 10 goals.
Blair Satterfield, a Regional All-American and First Team All-State player, returns six goals and is an Indiana commit. Riley Boyd is also headed to IU; she missed her junior season last year due to injury but is back for her senior year.
Defender Sydney Cook, a Second Team All-State player, returns as a defender; she also scored one goal for Southeastern. Kate Noel, also named Second Team All-State, is another defender committed to Purdue. She will be out with an injury; Davidson said she won’t likely be back until the end of the season.
“We’re just hopeful that she gets some of her senior year back,” said Davidson. “She will be a leader off the field until she returns.”
Davidson noted that May and Satterfield have both been starters since their freshman year, while Cook, Boyd and Noel have been starters since their sophomore year. “Those five bring in lots of varsity experience,” he said.
The underclassmen are good as well. Sophomore Sydney May had an outstanding freshman season, leading the Royals with 16 goals and being named Second Team All-State. Junior midfielder Addison McClain has committed to Ball State. She scored three goals last season.
Junior Hannah Dodge is back as goalkeeper. She came in during the season and played 16 games, making 14 saves and compiling a goals against average of 0.300.
“Hannah played very well and now has a whole year of varsity experience coming into her junior year,” said Davidson.
A key transfer player for Southeastern is junior Sophia Reising, who comes to the Royals from Richmond. Reising was by far the Red Devils’ leading scorer last year, putting in 27 goals.
“The girls love her and she is a very talented midfielder,” said Davidson.
“We’re already jelling really well,” said Davidson. “We had a great summer. The girls have been really excited to get back to playing together. They’re a pretty close-knit group. The summer’s been a blast and they’re excited to start our season.”
The Royals’ season begins Saturday, Aug. 16 at Carmel.
