‘Rocks comeback falls short

Westfield nearly came all the way back Saturday at Pendleton Heights before the Arabians escaped with a 42-41 win.
The Shamrocks trailed 19-15 at halftime, then Pendleton opened up a 15-point lead midway through the third quarter. Westfield turned up the defensive pressure and battled back to take the lead with a little over a minute left in the game. But a late free throw gave the Arabians the victory.
Jade Shipley scored eight points to lead the ‘Rocks, and also dished out four assists. Sophia Kreag and Annabelle O’Hair both had four rebounds, with Kreag making five steals.
Westfield falls to 1-1, and will host Lawrence Central on Tuesday.
