Dear Editor:

Explore the Remnant Trust collection of historical artifacts. Our books are old, but they’re not musty!

The informative content represented in the Remnant Trust’s Collection serves as a wonderful catalyst for inspiring inquiry into the world’s most important questions. Just as people over the past 4,000 years have stewarded the wonderful items in our Collection, with your support, we continue this important stewardship, not only of books and manuscripts, but importantly of the ideas they contain. Our books are old, but they’re not musty.

Questions we continue to pursue through our programming include the role of religion and culture in society, the importance of equality under the law, the Commanding Heights of the Economy, and the necessity of civic engagement all encapsulated in the essential opportunity for ongoing education.

These passions drive every aspect of our programming and exhibits. In 2023, we’ve reached over 50,000 people through the Great Conversation Series, hosting exhibits all around the country, and offering exciting online content via six different channels. Our programming has provided valuable intellectual stimulus to those as young as 10 years old up to those in their 90s.

Looking forward to 2024

The Trust’s mission accomplishments in 2023 have strengthened our momentum and commitment in 2024. We are planning exciting addressing the impact of social media on democracy; events featuring the words of Frederick Douglass set to jazz; investigating AI and medical ethics through Frankenstein; and revisiting Adam Smith’s works through a lens of morality, economics, and the politics of freedom.

Our continued partnerships with the Indiana Historical Society, the Columbia Club and many other organizations continue to expand our reach. In addition, we currently have dozens of inquiries for programs in 2024 across the country where the important ideas contained in our can inspire a new generation of people to thoughtfully face challenges of our modern and increasingly global lives.

In an effort to make our programming even more accessible to those around the globe and to the younger generation, we’ve launched the Remnant Trust website, RemnantTrust.org. You can find and explore it online, where it is thoughtfully divided into three distinct ages, to immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of the people, works, and ideas that have shaped the world. With the capacity to grow to include all 1,600 items in the Collection, it has launched with 42 authors and 60 works.

We continue to develop strategic partnerships with like-minded organizations to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026. Please contact us at info@remnanttrust.org for ways to get involved in this important milestone for our country.

As we pursue these opportunities, we recognize your support is what enables our efforts and expands our reach. As you consider your year-end giving opportunities, we welcome your thoughtful contribution to furthering our important mission to use old books that aren’t even slightly musty to inspire inquiry into the world’s most important questions. You can access our secure giving portal at remnanttrust.org/donate. Together, we can add our contribution to that of the hundreds of authors our Collection represents in our quest to shape the future we seek for ourselves and our children — one that shines brightly on a new day and a new era.

Great ideas belong to everyone!
