Hamilton County Parks and Recreation (HCPR) has announced the addition of new SOMAstation outdoor fitness equipment at Prather Park, creating even more opportunities for families and community members to stay active together.

The SOMAstation, funded by the Hamilton County Health Department (HCHD) and similar to the one installed at Cool Creek Park, is located adjacent to the park’s new playground, which was installed last year. The placement allows parents and caregivers to exercise while supervising children at play, while also encouraging community interaction and engagement.

“The playground and new SOMAstation equipment at Prather Park work together to create a space that encourages both play and connection,” HCPR Director Chris Stice said. “The SOMAstation’s unique ‘partners in play’ design promotes physical activity while also encouraging adults to interact and engage with one another as they exercise.”

The fitness area includes a variety of equipment designed to support strength, flexibility, and overall wellness for users of different ages and abilities. The layout encourages people to gather, exercise together, and build social connections in an outdoor setting.

The addition of the SOMAstation further enhances Prather Park as a destination for recreation, wellness, and family-friendly outdoor experiences within the HCPR system.
