CARMEL – Wednesday was cool and windy at Carmel Stadium, but nothing could stop the spirit of the Hamilton County Unified Track meet.
Athletes from all across the county put on a show at the annual meet. All of the participants had reason to cheer afterwards, including those from Noblesville. The Millers won the team championship (team scores were not available at press time.)
Noblesville swept both the girls and boys 4×100 relays to finish the meet.
“It’s pretty exciting and I love these guys,” said Millers assistant coach Mitch Bonar, who was filling in for head coach Matt Johnston. “They work so hard. They work always to be their best and they work the team first always.
“I remember when it first started a few years ago. I never expected it to be this big. It’s beautiful that the whole county does it and I can’t wait to see what happens next year.”
Heat winners in the mixed 100 dash were Carmel’s Ayden Kostelac in Heat 1 Hamilton Southeastern’s Grace Gerstner in Heat 2 and Noblesville’s Carsten Shidler in Heat 3. In the mixed 400 dash, Carmel’s Maryn Piper was the winner of Heat 1, Fishers’ Carter Schmidt was victorious in Heat 2 and Fishers’ Aaron Schooley won Heat 3.
Westfield’s Gianna Padilla was the Flight 1 winner of the long jump, while Noblesville won the other two flights: Paul Schutte was first in Flight 2 and Kuljeet Mehra won Flight 3. In the shot put, Ethan Oshimura won Flight 1, George Moser was first in Flight 2 and Cohen Davis was the Flight 3 winner.
