NOBLESVILLE – The Noblesville boys golf team is deep this year, and the Millers got to show off just how deep they were on Saturday, April 25.
Noblesville hosted the annual Bob Spacey Invitational at Fox Prairie Golf Club. The Millers sent four teams out on the course, with their #1 team winning by scoring 293. Noblesville’s #2 team placed second with 306.
“We’ve been preaching about our depth all year long, and we are deep,” said Millers coach Gary Deakyne. He pointed out that, in addition to Noblesville, there were three other ranked teams at Fox Prairie, and the Millers’ #2 team beat all of them.

“I’m really proud of them, but I’m really proud of our first team, too,” said Deakyne.
“We did awesome,” said Noblesville senior Tyler Marucci. “This team has plenty of depth. It’s good to see them playing well, especially in tournaments.”
Marucci ran away with medalist honors, scoring a six-under par 66. Marucci recovered from two bogeys to start his round, then lit up the back nine with 30.
“He’s the kind of kid that’s not going to give up and he’s not going to let it bother him,” said Deakyne.
Marucci won individual medalist at the Bob Spacey for the third consecutive year.
“It’s crazy,” said Marucci. “It feels like yesterday I was still a sophomore playing in this.”
“Nobody dreams of a guy coming in and winning the same invitational three years in a row, and for him to do that, that was amazing,” said Deakyne.
Mt. Vernon’s Owen Daugherty took second place with 72, while Fishers’ Tommy Klinker was third with 73.
Carmel’s #1 team placed third with 311. Noah Johnson led the Greyhounds with a 75.
