Millers come out ahead of Westfield & Homestead to win own invitational

The Noblesville girls track and field team won its own Invitational on Wednesday.

The Millers scored 129 points, emerging victorious in a three-team battle with Westfield and Homestead. The Shamrocks and the Spartans tied for second place, as both teams scored 117.5 points.

Noblesville won five events, including four in the field. Hannah Alexander earned a sweep of the shot put and the discus, Malina Miller was first in the high jump, while Delaney Tichenor and Linley Burman went 1-2 in the pole vault. Rylee Hassan also helped out by taking third in the high jump. Paige Hazelrigg and Kennedy Applegate were 1-2 in the 1600 run.

Westfield also picked up five wins. Three of them involved Lucy Hauser: The junior swept both the 100 and 300 hurdles, and also joined Tobi Fapetu, Princess Campbell and Abbi Van Bibber to win the 4×100 run.

Campbell won the 100 dash, while Fapetu was first in the 200 dash, in addition to third in the 100. Madison Clary placed second in the 100 hurdles to give the Shamrocks a 1-2 finish in that event.
