Indiana Youth Institute (IYI) has awarded Fishers Youth Assistance Program (FYAP) a grant totaling $100,000.

IYI made the grant in connection with Strengthening Youth Programs in Indiana (SYPI), an initiative Lilly Endowment Inc. launched in 2023. The initiative seeks to help youth-serving organizations working throughout the state improve their abilities to promote the academic, physical, and social well-being of young people ages 5 through 18.

With this support, FYAP will further build on its academic remediation programs. The funding will allow FYAP to expand its small-group and individual tutoring programs to serve greater numbers of students. This work will help more local students strengthen their reading skills, address academic challenges, and build a stronger foundation for future success.

“We are incredibly grateful for this investment in Fishers Youth Assistance Program and in the students we serve,” FYAP President Debbie Mann said. “This grant will allow us to expand the academic support we provide and reach more students who can benefit from additional help. By investing in students during the summer and throughout the school year, we can help them strengthen their skills, build confidence, and be better prepared for the year ahead.”

FYAP is one of 168 youth-serving organizations awarded SYPI grants totaling more than $40 million. A full list of grant recipients is available here.
