December 11, 1953 – March 15, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our cherished Mother, Wife, and Grandmother, Michele Catherine Spaulding. She died peacefully at age 72 on March 15 at her home in Cicero, surrounded by her husband and son.
Michele was born on December 11, 1953, in South Bend, Ind. She was a creative soul who brought joy and warmth into the lives of many. Her generosity was known by all who met her, as she always insisted that all were welcome at her table. Michele was a beloved resident of Cicero, where she lived with her husband, Michael Spaulding, to whom she was married on the 29th of November, 1975.
Michele was an interior decorator by trade and loved to decorate. She had a passion for the fine arts and was known for her work with Photographics. However, her role as a homemaker was one she cherished most, filling her home with love and warmth for her family and friends. She loved to entertain, regularly hosting dinners and fellowship gatherings. Michele also enjoyed going out on the lake to boat. Her hobbies reflected her creative and generous spirit, and she will be remembered for the love and joy she brought into the lives of those around her.
Michele is survived by her husband Michael Spaulding, her daughter Brooke Abrams and son-in-law Brad, her son Brodie Spaulding and daughter-in-law Clair, and her granddaughter Phoebe Abrams. She is also survived by her sister, Georgia Palmer, Ann Yoder, and her brothers Joseph and William Phillips. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Jo Ann Phillips.
A visitation will be held for Michele on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 410 Pearl St., Cicero. This will be followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at the same location. Services will be under the direction of Hartley-Dunnichay Funeral Homes – Cicero.
Memorial contributions may be made in Michele’s name to the American Cancer Society.
In honor of Michele’s compassionate and loving spirit, we encourage those who knew her to share their memories and upload photos to the memorial page. Her life was filled with love and generosity, and sharing these memories will help us all remember the joy she brought into our lives.

Haven’t seen the Spauldings for decades, but they bought our house in North Harbour and Brooke and Brodie both babysat for our boys. Prayers and hugs to Mike and the kids. She was way too young.
