The Hamilton County 4-H Fair is just over three weeks away, and once again a great group of 4-H’ers have made the decision to donate their livestock to Hamilton County Harvest Food Bank’s (HCHFB) Meating the Need program.

It’s a win-win!

Meating the Need is project of HCHFB in partnership with Hamilton County 4-H.

Your donation doesn’t just help HCHFB purchase meat for local food pantries. It supports local 4-H’ers by purchasing their project animals as they pursue their 4-H, education, and life goals. Over the 10 years of this project, 53 different 4-H members have participated.

Growing every year

This year, Meating the Need will exceed 43,000 pounds of meat it has distributed to Hamilton County food pantries. That represents the protein requirements of over 171,000 meals.

Meating the Need was just the start … HCHFB has now provided more than 100,000 pounds of protein to over 25 pantries with distributions every month of the year.

Meating the Need provides healthy LOCAL protein for the county’s most vulnerable kids and families and strengthens the partnerships between farm families and the greater community.

Donate today

To be on the 4-H Fair Display Banner, donations must be made by July 1.

Check donations can be made to Hamilton County Harvest Food Bank, P.O. Box 881, Noblesville, IN 46061, Memo: Meating the Need. Donate online via Hamilton County Harvest Food Bank website, hchfoodbank.org/online-giving. Be sure to designate “Meating the Need.”

Another way to help

Businesses, organizations, and individuals who purchase an advertisement in The Reporter’s 4-H Special Edition should know that their money helps this newspaper to write a large donation check to the Meating the Need program. If you would like to advertise, email Ads@ReadTheReporter.com or call the newspaper at (765) 365-2316.

Last year we were able to both write a $5,000 donation check to HCHFB and print a full 40 pages of 4-H results, stories, and photos.

This year, more people in Hamilton County are facing food insecurity than ever.

Every ad in the 4-H special edition helps feed the hungry and give our talented, hard-working 4-H participants the ink they deserve.

The Reporter is part of the public record future generations will refer to. Let’s show them what kind of a heart Hamilton County really has.
