Joyce Ann Fielden

September 3, 1946 – March 20, 2026

Joyce Ann Fielden, 79, Carmel, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 3, 1946, in Knoxville, Tenn., to the late Joseph Frederick and Jessie Marie (Naill) Spradlin.

A proud 1964 graduate of Powell High School in Powell, Tenn., Joyce then married the love of her life, Howard “Sonny” Fielden, on July 1, 1966. Throughout her life, she worked in various medical and doctor offices, where her kindness made an impact on coworkers and patients alike.

Joyce lived a life full of energy, laughter, and devotion to others. Years ago, she was an avid bowler and a talented softball pitcher – often pitching to her sister, who served as her catcher. She enjoyed coaching, volunteering as a volleyball coach at her daughters’ school and coaching their cheer leading squad to an impressive 10 national championships. The door of her house was always open to her daughters’ friends and the Fielden house was usually full of teens every weekend. She had a huge impact on their lives with many of them looking at her as a mother figure.

Her faith was central and foundational to her life. At First Apostolic Church in Knoxville, Tenn., she served faithfully as a sound engineer and camera operator. After moving to Carmel, she quickly became known as the church’s beloved “Nana,” joyfully snuggling and caring for nearly every baby who came through the doors. Her gentle spirit and open arms allowed her to be a source of comfort to many.

Above all else, Joyce’s greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with them, celebrating their milestones, cheering them on, and surrounding them with unconditional love.

Survivors include her devoted husband, Sonny Fielden; daughters, Jamie (Matthew) Ball and Jodie Fielden; her treasured grandchildren, Chelsea Ball, Chandler Ball, and Chloe Ball Comer (Isaiah); sister, Janet Spradlin; brother, Jim Spradlin; honorary daughter, Shelly (Josh) Wilson; and honorary grandchildren Kenadi Wilson and Levi Wilson, all of whom she loved as her own.

Family and friends will gather from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Faith Apostolic Church, of which Joyce was an active member, and where the funeral service will begin at 6 p.m., with her son-in-law, Matthew Ball, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Faith Apostolic Church – Building Fund, 1212 E. 116th St., Carmel, IN 46032.
