Huskies chase down Panthers in home game

The Hamilton Heights girls basketball team picked up a Hoosier Conference East Division win on Tuesday, sailing past Western 65-35 in a home game.

The Class 3A No. 2 Huskies outscored the Panthers in each quarter of the game, leading 19-11 after one period and 33-21 at halftime. Hadleigh Cherry was red-hot in the first quarter, draining three 3-pointers. Katie Brown made two 3s in the first period and a third triple in the second.

Heights accelerated through the second half, outscoring Western 32-14. Camryn Runner had nine points by halftime, and she put in another 15 in the second half for a game-high 24 points. Brown finished the game with five 3s and scored 18 points in all. Cherry finished with 10 points.

The Huskies are 2-0 in the East and finish division play on Saturday afternoon by hosting Tipton. Heights is now 17-2 overall.
