Waverly Woolever, a soon-to-be senior at Hamilton Heights High School, is making headlines with a record-breaking year in track and field.

Woolever recently became a back-to-back All-State podium honoree at the IHSAA Girls Track and Field State Championships on June 7, where she broke her own previous school record. Just one week later, she raised the bar again—literally—by clearing 5 feet, 8 inches and earning second place at the Midwest Meet of Champions All-Star meet, which took place June 14 at Hamilton Southeastern. The performance set yet another personal record.

Woolever traveled to Pennsylvania last Saturday to compete in one of the nation’s most prestigious high school track and field events— the New Balance Nationals, held at historic Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. Woolever finished in seventh place, clearing 5 feet, 7.25 inches.
