Dear Editor:

I wish to express my support for the Noblesville High School students who peacefully marched to protest the actions of Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Monday. At a time when young people are often criticized for being unmotivated and disengaged, these students showed civic responsibility, empathy, and bravery.

The students exercised their First Amendment rights peacefully and thoughtfully, drawing attention to a significant issue that affects families and classmates within our own community. Even if you disagree with their views, their willingness to participate in democracy deserves respect.

For many students, immigration policies impact their friends, neighbors, and loved ones. Some marched in solidarity, showing compassion and a commitment to standing up for others. These are values we should embrace in our Noblesville Schools and community.

Civic engagement is an aspect of education. The Noblesville High School students who spoke out should not be criticized as disruptive to learning, but as young people learning how to engage in a world full of challenges created for them.

  1. Schools should not allow students to protest during school hours! Weak and Woke is the school that allows students during school hours to protest!

  2. “ on February 2, 2026, over 100 to several hundred Noblesville High School students walked out of classes during school hours. ”

I do not have a problem with them protesting. But if you walk out of school, you should be suspended.

Why did they not protest on Saturday or Sunday?

  3. Who exactly are the students protesting for? ICE is going after the criminal aliens the sanctuary cities let remain in their midst. Are these the type of people the students or their parents would want living in their neighborhood?
What should we do, let federal agents continue to get assaulted, government property destroyed, let the criminal aliens just stay here?
