On Monday, Nov. 2, Charles Coriaty, 63, Fishers, was charged on 20 felony counts related to child sex crimes:
- Child Exploitation, a Level 5 Felony (10 counts)
- Possession of Child Pornography, a Level 6 Felony (seven counts)
- Possession of Child Sex Abuse Material, a level 6 Felony (three counts)
His bond has been set to $2.5 million, cash only.
Coriaty was investigated by the Hamilton County Metro ICAC Task Force after receiving a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). This CyberTip was generated by NCMEC after receiving information from SmugMug. This tip contained approximately 175 images, many of which contained photos of juveniles from swimsuits or sports ads where an AI application was used to modify the photos to make them appear nude.
Detectives with the Hamilton County Metro ICAC Task Force served a search warrant on the suspect’s SmugMug account where additional images of child sex abuse material (CSAM) were located that were produced using an AI application from clothed photos found on websites and advertisements.
A search warrant was conducted on Coriaty’s residence where additional images of CSAM were located in computer file folders named “Teen Models,” “Braces,” “School Portraits,” and others.
The task force is headquartered at the Fishers Police Department and is comprised of detectives from the following agencies: Fishers Police Department, Carmel Police Department, Westfield Police Department, Noblesville Police Department, Greenfield Police Department, Anderson Police Department, Hamilton County Sheriff, Madison County Sheriff, and Homeland Security Investigations. The task force focuses on internet crimes against children and investigates child exploitation cases in Hamilton, Hancock, Madison, and Tipton counties.
Coriaty is being held at the Hamilton County Jail.
A charge is merely an accusation, and the arrested person(s) is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
