Guerin Catholic dropped a 38-23 Circle City Conference game at Roncalli on Friday.
The Class 3A No. 5 Golden Eagles scored the game’s first touchdown, with Malcolm Houze taking the ball seven yards to the end zone in the first quarter. Hayden Cler made a two-point conversion run to put Guerin Catholic up 8-0.
But the Royals took over after that, scoring 38 unanswered points over the four quarters. Roncalli led 38-8 before the Golden Eagles made a run, starting with a 58-yard touchdown throw from Houze to Aiden Horn.
Houze made a two-point run, and Guerin Catholic was within 38-16. Houze scored again with less than a minute left on a five-yard run, followed by an extra-point kick from Nick Wilson.
Houze finished the game 26-of-48, totaling 234 yards passing. Horn had eight catches for 111 yards, while Cler made seven catches for 56 yards.
The Golden Eagles are 0-2 in conference play and 3-2 overall. Guerin Catholic finishes CCC action next week at Bishop Chatard.
