Girls soccer: ‘Hounds edge Westfield

The Carmel girls soccer team edged past Westfield 1-0 in a Monday all-county game.
The 3A No. 3 Greyhounds got their goal in the 52nd minute, when Emily Speidel headed in a corner kick from Katie Soderstrom. Emily Melchi had two saves.
The Shamrocks’ Libby Rismiller made 16 saves.
Carmel will play at Center Grove tonight in a Metropolitan Conference game. The Greyhounds are 6-0 in MIC play, so the winner of the game will be the conference champion.

University beat Triton Central 2-1 on Tuesday.
The Tigers scored within the first 10 minutes, but the Trailblazers answered with Tessa Hudson scoring off a Lily Snyder assist before halftime.
With three minutes to go, Halle Van Ah scored the game winner, off a free kick.
