NOBLESVILLE – The Guerin Catholic girls lacrosse team easily moved into the semifinals of the Indiana Girls Lacrosse playoffs with a 19-7 quarterfinal win over Culver Academies Thursday at the Golden Eagles’ field.

Guerin Catholic never trailed, leading 6-0 after one quarter. Seven different players scored for the Golden Eagles, led by Caroline Ford’s six goals and eight assists. Claire Flannagan was next with five goals and one assist.

“We had beaten them before and felt that if we got out to a nice quick lead, it might deflate their spirit a little bit,” said GC coach Joe Bellflower. “We’ve played really good the last several weeks, and we’re jumping on teams early, which is something I like.”

Natalie Laughon added three goals, while Lucy Espostio added two goals. Adele Cline, Ella Capofari and Maggie Scott each scored one goal.

“Defensively, we’re really solid, as we always have been,” said Bellflower. “But offensively, we’re just moving the ball really well.”

The Golden Eagles improved to 15-4 after the victory. Guerin Catholic will play in the INGLA semifinals next Saturday (May 23) at Zionsville. The Golden Eagles await the winner of Saturday’s quarterfinal between Carmel and Westfield.
