Fishers Century Club has announced that Youth Mentoring Initiative (YMI) has been selected as the winning charity for the Dec. 12 meeting. The meeting took place at The Club / Knowledge Services building in their appealing recreation room, where members gathered to hear compelling pitches for deserving charities.

Matt Kegley, currently serving as the Board Chair of Youth Mentoring Initiative, was randomly chosen from a hat to present the charity of his choice. Dr. Kegley passionately spoke about YMI’s mission to actively engage Hamilton Southeastern School students by nurturing positive relationships with a caring adult mentor to inspire future generations and build a better community.

“I am honored to have had the opportunity to share the impactful work of Youth Mentoring Initiative with the Fishers Century Club,” Kegley said. “The club’s mission is commendable, and I am thrilled that YMI received the most votes for the crowd-giving funds.”

The Fishers Century Club is still in the process of tallying the total funds raised from both in-person and online contributions, but it is anticipated to exceed $3,000. The generous donation will support YMI’s initiatives to expand into additional schools within the Hamilton Southeastern School District.

YMI Executive Director Brittany Rayburn expressed gratitude for being selected as the winning charity.

“We are incredibly thankful to the Fishers Century Club members for recognizing the value of our mentoring programs,” Rayburn. “This generous donation will enable us to make a meaningful impact on even more students within the HSE district, creating lasting connections and positive outcomes.”

Fishers Century Club is known for its unique approach to philanthropy, bringing members together each quarter to pool their funds and support a chosen charity in a ‘shark-tank’ sort of way.

Another YMI board member, Joe Eaton, attended the club meeting and emphasized the positive experience and impact of the club.

“Fishers Century Club provides a fantastic platform for like-minded individuals in the community to come together, make a difference, and contribute to the betterment of our community,” Eaton said. “I’m excited about the ongoing impact the club can make as they continue to grow their members.”

The other two charities that were randomly chosen to present were, Recovery Café of Hamilton County and Hollis Adams. The club’s next quarterly gathering is scheduled for March, and details about the event will be announced in the near future. Fishers Century Club remains committed to fostering community engagement and supporting local organizations that make a significant difference.
