On Wednesday, Dr. Juanita Albright of Fishers filed as a District 2 candidate for Hamilton Southeastern (HSE) School Board.

There are four seats within the school district, and the board member election will be on the ballot this upcoming Nov. 8. The race is non-partisan, and voters will only be able to vote for one candidate within their district.

Dr. Albright grew up in northern Indiana in a community that was predominantly Mennonite and Amish. Growing up Mennonite, faith and family were central to her culture, but education beyond high school was atypical. She was determined to obtain the highest education possible by deciding to become a doctor in seventh grade.

“I wanted to achieve the hardest thing I could think of as a seventh-grader,” Albright said. “A doctor was the hardest thing at that time, so I went out and down and did it.”

Dr. Albright has practiced medicine for over 20 years along with her husband, Eric, a Pediatric Pathologist. They have three children with the eldest going to Taylor University, and twins attending Fishers High School.

When asked why she wanted to run for school board, Albright said, “The curtain was unveiled during COVID, and parents were able to see first-hand what our children were being taught. Hamilton Southeastern School District went from fourth to 16th rated in academics this past year. We must restore academic excellence to our school district!”

Administrative transparency between the school and parents, and ensuring fiscal responsibility are other areas of focus for Dr. Albright.
