Greyhounds dominate at 100th Kokomo Relays

The Carmel girls track and field team ran away with the 100th annual Kokomo Relays last Sunday.

The Greyhounds scored 144 points, well ahead of runner-up Center Grove’s 88 points. Carmel picked up seven victories, including a 1-2 finish in the 1000 run by two freshmen. Larkin Taylor won the race in 2 minutes, 49.57 seconds, followed by Annabel Pollert in 2:53.77.

Two more Greyhounds freshmen got event victories. Faith Tchuente Fotso won the 100 hurdles, while Emma Warner claimed the high jump. Carmel also picked up relay wins in the 3000 distance medley relay, 2400 distance medley relay, 4×100 relay and the 1200 sprint medley relay.

Noblesville took third with 76 points. The Millers had three event wins, all in the field. Hannah Alexander swept the discus (147 feet, 3 inches) and shot put (46 feet, 1 inch), setting new meet records in both events. Alexander was named the Walter Cross Award winner as Most Outstanding Female. Delaney Teachnor won the pole vault.

Noblesville’s boys team finished fifth by scoring 70.5 points. Dario Torres won the 100 dash while Caden Click led a 1-2 finish in the 1000 run, clocking in at 2:22.06. Alec Moor placed second in 2:23.82.

400 shuttle hurdle relay: 2. Carmel (Tchuente Fotso, Charlotte Hunter, Gilhooly, Livi Miller) 1:09.57.

4×100 relay: 1. Carmel (Rebecca Belanger, Norris, Guerrant, Gabriela Grande Rosas) 48.47, 5. Noblesville (Mallory Cahill, Mya Baker, Kate Rollins, Maddie Coates) 51.14.
