Another state cross country meet, another year of podium finishes for Hamilton County.
Three local boys teams and girls teams all placed in the top five of their respective races at the IHSAA state meet, which took place at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute. Leading the way were the Hamilton Southeastern boys and the Carmel girls teams, both of which finished as runners-up.
The Royals boys scored 117 points to get second place, behind only team champion Brebeuf Jesuit’s 78 points; it’s the Braves’ first-ever boys cross country state title. Southeastern, meanwhile, picked up its second runner-up trophy, having also placed second in 2011.
Three Royals runners all finished in the top 25, earning All-State honors. Nolan Satterfield placed 11th, Garrett Hicks took 17th and Bennett Dubois finished in 21st.
