Are you looking for a unique way to learn about history and honor our military on Veterans Day?

The Civil War Veterans Walking Tour will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville. Crownland is the home of the Register of the Heroes of Hamilton County, a marble monument dedicated to the soldiers from the county who took part in the war.

The walking tour will be led by local author Kevin Yaney. You will hear about the men who dropped everything and volunteered to fight in the war. You will learn about Indiana’s involvement in the war, Hamilton County’s tribute to the Unknown dead of the war, and you might even be recruited to man a cannon in the artillery.

The Civil War Veterans Walking Tour is free, but you need to register to attend. You can do so at CivilWarVeteransWalkingTour.com.

Keep reading The Reporter for a three-part series written by Yaney about the history of Hamilton County during the Civil War period. The first part will publish in our Monday, Oct. 23 print edition.
