The EidFest committee, in partnership with the City of Carmel, announces the second annual EidFest, set for 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 30 at One Civic Square.

Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, the committee has created a vibrant festival designed to showcase the rich tapestry of Muslim heritage from around the world. The City of Carmel is honored to host this community-led celebration, providing a central stage for neighbors to gather, share traditions, and celebrate the cultural diversity that strengthens the city.

Community members organizing EidFest represent more than 15 countries from around the world including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Guinea, Iraq, Libya, and more. They are excited to share their food, traditions and joy.

“Returning for our second year, EidFest has become an exciting thread in the fabric of Carmel,” said Ashhar Madni, member of the Mayor’s Advisory Commission on Human Relations and festival organizer. “This celebration is an invitation for all neighbors to experience the beauty of our traditions, firsthand. By sharing our stories, food and art, we continue to strengthen bonds of friendship and understanding that make Carmel such a welcoming place to call home.”

Eid-al-Fitr, one of two major Muslim holidays, commemorates the end of the holy month of Ramadan. This year, Ramadan began on Feb. 18 and concluded on March 19. The second major Muslim holiday, Eid-al-Adha, honors the spirit of sacrifice and is observed later in the year; this year, it is projected to fall on Wednesday, May 27.
