The Westfield Washington Schools (WWS) Board of Trustees approved the promotion of Maggie Hultman to Assistant Director of Early Learning Programs at the district’s Early Learning Center (ELC) during its meeting Tuesday, April 21.

Hultman, who currently serves at the ELC as BAC Assistant Director, joined the team in fall 2023 and has been a key leader in supporting students, staff, and families within the program. In her new role, she will continue to support early learning initiatives while helping further strengthen programming at the ELC.

Hultman brings a strong background in both classroom instruction and educational leadership. Prior to joining WWS, she served as an elementary teacher in Noblesville Schools, working across kindergarten and upper elementary grade levels with a focus on individualized instruction, collaboration, and student growth. She holds both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Ball State University and is licensed in elementary education.

“I’m most excited to step into this role and continue the great work happening in our building, especially when it comes to inclusion,” Hultman said. “Our Early Learning Center is unique in that we serve both a childcare setting and developmental preschool students with a wide range of needs. We are proud to support an inclusive environment where students learn alongside one another, whether that’s students from developmental preschool classrooms joining general education settings or their peers spending time in those classrooms. These opportunities help kids build relationships, empathy, and a deeper understanding of all learners.”

Director of Early Learning Programs Marci Derado and current Assistant Director of Early Learning Programs Caylie Dicken (who will take over as Director in the 2026-2027 school year) both expressed strong support for Hultman’s transition into this expanded leadership role.

“Maggie joined the Early Learning Center in the fall of 2023 and has been a great addition to our administrative staff,” Derado said. “She has supported the BAC families fully, which is something that that program needed, period. We are excited for her to move up into this new role with more of a support system in place for the Early Learning Center.”

Dicken said, “We are excited to keep Maggie on our team at the ELC and look forward to having her support onboarding a new BAC assistant principal in the new role as Assistant Director of Early Learning Programs. I think she’s going to do great. She’s already familiar with the staff and well respected and trusted by families and staff in our program.”

Known for her relationship-focused leadership style and commitment to inclusive practices, Hultman will play a key role in continuing to grow and support early learning opportunities across the district.
