Boys wrestling: Heights places sixth, Noblesville eighth at Holiday Duals; Westfield beats Bishop Chatard dual meet

The Noblesville and Hamilton Heights boys wrestling teams were back at North Montgomery on Friday for the second day of the Holiday Duals tournament.

The Friday portion of the tournament was the team competition. The Huskies placed sixth as a team with 113.5 points, while the Millers were eighth with 100 points. Whiteland won the team competition with 205 points.

Heights had six place winners, including one champion. Michael Cain won at 165 pounds, reaching the finals with two technical fall victories, then edging out Lincoln-Way Central’s Jalen Byrd for the championship in a 5-4 decision.

Drew Laitas placed second at 285 pounds, getting two pins along the way. Simon Kuhn took third at 138, while Finn Bowman placed fourth at 113. Cooper Doucette (at 120) and Justin Tilton (at 144) both finished sixth in their weight classes.

Noblesville also collected six place winners. Mason Presits (at 150) and Yan Tioua (at 190) each took third in their divisions. Kai Kaohi (at 106), Zach Nekolite (at 126) and Evan Nicholls (at 175) all finished fourth in their classes, while Isaac Suddarth took sixth at 132.

Westfield won a Friday dual meet over Bishop Chatard 57-17 at CSI Gymnasium.

The Shamrocks won 10 of the 14 matches, including five by fall. Getting pins were Job Mavrick, Brayden Head, Porter Temples Alic Washburn and Riley Davison. Connor Maddox won his match at 106 pounds by technical fall, while Eli Turner picked up a major decision win at 175 pounds. Trevor Humburg, Carter Niccum and Jon Stryker all received forfeits.
