Boys tennis: Carmel & Zionsville face off today for sectional title

The Carmel and Zionsville boys tennis teams advanced to a Sectional 35 championship showdown today at the Todd Witsken Tennis Center.

The No. 1-ranked and host Greyhounds beat No. 10 Guerin Catholic 4-1, with the No. 4 Eagles beating University, also 4-1, in Thursday’s semifinals. The championship match begins at 4:50 p.m. this afternoon.

Both the Golden Eagles and the Trailblazers got their victories at No. 1 singles, which means both players will advance to the individual tournament starting next week. Max Fuller won for Guerin Catholic, with Owen Schellhase winning for University and staying unbeaten for the season.

Sectional 31 host Fishers beat No. 21 Hamilton Southeastern 5-0 in a Thursday semifinal match to reach the championship match, which also takes place today.

The No. 14-ranked Tigers won all five semifinal matches in straight sets and will play Pendleton Heights at 4:30 p.m. this afternoon in the championship. Results now follow.
