Beyond party lines in school board elections

Dear Editor:

As a Noblesville Democrat, I believe school board elections should be about our children and the future of our community. It goes well beyond political party labels.

I have had several conversations with Joe Forgey and Misti Ray, both of whom are Republicans. Those conversations have reinforced for me that supporting our children and investing in our schools are universal values.

Joe brings valuable experience and a strong ability to collaborate and bring people together. Misti is not afraid to ask the tough questions and challenge assumptions. Together, they bring different strengths to a school board that should be willing to consider ideas beyond groupthink.

Both understand that investing in Noblesville Schools is an investment in the future of our hometown. A great school board needs people who can work together, listen to different perspectives, and understand the community they represent.

That is why, as a Democrat, I am in support of Joe Forgey and Misti Ray for Noblesville School Board. Supporting our children should never be limited by a forced party label.

Disclosure: I am a Democrat, and the views expressed in this letter are my own. I have spoken personally with both candidates and am sharing my support based on those conversations and my belief that investing in our schools is investing in the future of Noblesville.
