Westfield Washington Schools Superintendent Dr. John Atha released the following message to the community on Tuesday night, Nov. 3.

Atha
Dear Westfield Community,
Tonight, I am filled with gratitude for our incredible Westfield community.
Throughout this referendum process, I have said that this would be a defining moment for our school district. Tonight, our community has made a decisive statement about its commitment to our students, our teachers, our staff, and the future of Westfield Washington Schools.
First and foremost, thank you for your overwhelming support, trust, and investment in our schools. Thank you to everyone who engaged in this complex conversation, asked thoughtful questions, attended meetings, shared perspectives, and exercised their right to vote. Regardless of how you voted, your voice matters, and your engagement makes our community stronger.
I also want to recognize our dedicated educators, staff, families, and community volunteers who helped make this possible. Your passion, commitment, and belief in our students reflect what makes Westfield such a special place.
Tonight does not simply mark a victory to celebrate. It marks a commitment we must honor.
Our community has placed its trust in us, and we will not take that trust lightly. We made promises throughout this process, and now we must deliver on them.
That means maintaining responsible class sizes, attracting and retaining outstanding teachers, strengthening school safety, investing in counselors and student supports, and rebuilding our financial reserves.
These are not simply goals we discussed during a referendum. They are commitments to our students, our staff, and every member of this community who has invested in the future of our schools.
We will hold ourselves accountable to these commitments. In the coming weeks, we will establish a regular schedule of community updates to share our progress toward these goals. We want our community to see how these resources are being used, what progress we are making, and how this investment is making a difference for our students and staff.
Our excellent community deserves nothing less than transparency, responsible stewardship, and meaningful results.
Our work is far from finished. In many ways, it is just beginning. Our best days are ahead of us, and together, we will continue building a district where every student is prepared to be Life Ready.
Thank you, Westfield, for believing in our schools, supporting our educators, and investing in the future of our students. We are grateful for your trust, and we are committed to earning it every day.
