Submitted by Office of Gov. Mike Braun
Indiana Governor Mike Braun signed executive orders on Wednesday, Nov. 4, to prioritize affordability, extending Indiana’s energy emergency and delivering another month of relief at the pump for Hoosier families.
This action continues diesel tax relief and extends the suspension of the Gasoline Excise Tax and the Gasoline Usage Tax through Dec. 4.
“Affordability is my top priority, and I’m using every tool available to help Hoosier families and farmers save money at the pump,” Gov. Braun said. “We’re keeping these savings for Hoosier families and farmers in place for another month while protecting funding for our roads and infrastructure.”
The governor first took action to make fuel more affordable in Indiana for Hoosiers in April, delivering the most affordable gas in America throughout the summer.
Executive Order 26-35 extends the statewide energy emergency declared on Aug. 7 for another 30 days, beginning Nov. 5 and continuing through Dec. 4. The order suspends collection of Indiana’s Gasoline Excise Tax and Gasoline Usage Tax in all 92 counties for the duration of the emergency.
In a second executive order, Gov. Braun also continued the suspension of special fuel restrictions for Indiana farmers and timber harvesters, allowing them to use dyed diesel fuel in qualifying highway vehicles engaged in agricultural and timber harvesting operations to help reduce transportation costs. As Indiana farmers harvest corn and soybeans across the state, these savings will go a long way.
Gov. Braun remains committed to making local units of government whole and using current reserves to allow the Indiana Department of Transportation highway fund to continue all fiscal year 2027 projects and maintenance uninterrupted.
