Anderson promoted to Division Chief of Safety & Training at WFD

The Westfield Fire Department announces the appointment of Battalion Chief Don Anderson to the position of Division Chief of Safety and Training, effective July 14.

With 17 years of experience as a firefighter and EMT, Chief Anderson has been instrumental in the department’s training efforts since becoming Battalion Chief of Training in March 2024. His previous roles include serving as a Shift Training Officer (STO) for two years and as a merit company lieutenant for another two years.

Chief Anderson expressed his dedication, saying, “Developing young recruits into full-functioning firefighters and emergency responders is where my passion lies. Continuing that education and training for the career lifetime of that firefighter, is an honor. Serving the men and women of WFD to assure their training does not fail them is the goal, every single day.”

Chief Anderson has been married to his wife, Jennifer, for 23 years and is the proud father of four children: Ethan, Isaac, Samuel, and Rachel. Additionally, he has contributed to the Local #4416 committee for Firefighter Human Relations and served on the Reliability Committee for two years, focusing on risk management, while also pioneering various roles within the fire department.
