It’s time for the last Second Friday of 2023. Fishers Arts Council (FAC) is showcasing artists brand new to the FAC Hub Gallery for the month of December with a free, all-ages, Second Friday celebration from 6 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 8.

The exhibit is open now through Friday, Dec. 29. The gallery is located at 11810 Technology Drive inside the Collaboration Hub at the Hamilton County Community Foundation.

Ten local artists will be featured this month, two of which are youth artists*. The artists on display are Susan Cook, Ciera (CiCi) Eadler, Sam Irish*, Beth Miller, Travis Park, Karissa Rumsey, Lisa Bliss Rush, Preeya Sikand*, and Cristal Williams. These talented individuals represent Camden, Carmel, Fishers, Indianapolis, McCordsville, and Noblesville.

Acrylic, mixed media, digital art, colored pencil, and more media are represented in the gallery.

“We love helping artists showcase their work for the first time and introducing artists to the Fishers community who have not shown with us before,” FAC Executive Director Les Reinhardt said. “This exhibit is always a great mix of skill levels with every individual sharing their best work.”

Many of the artworks are for sale at a variety of price points. The gallery is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Friday gallery visits are by appointment only by contacting Fishers Arts Council directly. The gallery will close at noon on Friday, Dec. 22 and will be closed on Dec. 25.

During the Second Friday reception on Dec. 8, there will be live music from Eric Salazar “The Clarinet Guy,” along with snacks, drinks, and a cash bar featuring Sun King beer and Daniel’s Vineyard wines. The featured artisan will be Tracy Gordon of Noblesville. Gordon’s business is “Gem Geek” where she creates unique handmade gemstone jewelry using (mostly) natural gemstones created to enhance the beauty of the individual gemstones. Each piece is made using a modified pearl knotting technique and designed to layer or look great worn alone. Additionally, FAC board member Pat Grabill will interview several of the artists on display at 6:45 p.m.

Additionally, the FAC board is accepting applications for new members. These applications are available on the FAC website (fishersartscouncil.org/how-to-help), at the Second Friday reception, and via email at info@fishersartscouncil.org.  Applications are due by Jan. 4, 2024.
