A railroad track in Tipton that has been dormant for more than a decade will soon be the site of a new experience just in time for the town’s famous Pork Festival.
Guests are invited to hop on board Nickel Plate Heritage Railroad’s newest railbike adventure, The Pork Fest Express, today, Sept. 11, and Saturday, Sept. 12.
About the Pork Fest Express
The Pork Fest Express is a 30-minute roundtrip railbiking adventure through the beautiful Tipton scenery. After departing from behind The Shack, guests will pedal their way through a short stretch of railroad that hasn’t seen passenger traffic in more than 10 years, making this a truly unique opportunity to experience a hidden piece of Tipton’s railroad history. This one-mile journey is the perfect experience for families and new railbike riders looking for something new to add to their day at the Pork Festival.

The Inaugural Ride
Nickel Plate Heritage Railroad held the first official Pork Fest Express railbike rides at a VIP Night on Sept. 9. The night included members from both Noblesville and Tipton communities who came together to celebrate the opening of this new attraction with food from The Shack, a silent auction, and a railbike ride. Prominent guests on the inaugural ride included Tipton Mayor, Keegan Schmicker and Nickel Plate Heritage Railroad Board President Christine DeJoy. The night ended with a toast to the hope that this new experience provides joy to the people of Tipton.
