Strong women leaders

This month, Ivy Tech recognizes Dr. Stacy Atkinson & her role in helping to improve Indiana’s workforce

March is Women’s History Month in the U.S. – a milestone that has been recognized by Presidents and Congress since 1980. The theme for 2023 is “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories.”

March also is a big month for Ivy Tech Community College and the women who lead it. Ivy Tech will celebrate its 60th anniversary on March 15. With 19 campuses and around 150,000 students, Ivy Tech is the largest community college in Indiana and the largest singly accredited community college in the country. Ivy Tech contributes nearly $4 billion annually to Indiana’s economy and is making an impact in communities across the state.

One woman leader, Dr. Stacy Atkinson, Ph.D., was named Chancellor of the Ivy Tech Hamilton County campus in 2021. Previously, she had served in other positions at Ivy Tech including leadership roles as Chancellor and Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs on the Richmond campus.

Whether it’s opening the newly formed Hamilton County campus in 2021, launching a new nursing school earlier this year or building community and corporate partnerships, Atkinson and her team are focused on strengthening the current and future workforce of Indiana.
