Players of the Year: Jack Brown, Fishers & Gage Stanifer, Westfield

This spring, Hamilton County saw one of the more competitive seasons across the board for all nine baseball teams. As is expected annually, teams were loaded and always ready to go toe-to-toe with their opponents.
It goes to show just how tough it is to separate the top baseball talent in Hamilton County just by looking at how all nine teams finished their respective seasons.
No team in Hamilton County won, but three of the nine played for a sectional championship. It’s also extremely tough when five county teams compete in Sectional 8, only to fall to a Zionsville team that was playing some of the hottest baseball in the state that advanced them all the way to semi-state.
This might have been the toughest task yet in picking the two all-county first and second teams, let alone players that also deserved honorable mentions.
Hamilton County has top-notch coaches and in return, that results in the product we are grateful to see on the diamonds in our county for over two months every year.
The players listed on First, Second or Honorable Mention are in no particular order. They have been tabbed to be at that level as a result of their production this season. Most of these players have been nominated by their specific coaches, along with myself and Richie Hall, Sports Editor of the Hamilton County Reporter.
Hamilton County was also well-represented in the North/South All-Star Series by Westfield’s Gage Stanifer and Keaton Mahan, Hamilton Heights’ Drew VanOeveren, University’s Grayson Knight and Fishers’ Tate Warner.

- Jack Brown, SO (Fishers) – Batting: .429 avg, 42-for-98, 22 runs, 29 RBI, home run, 10 doubles, 2 triples; Pitching: 5-2 record, 2.89 ERA, 36.1 IP, 52 K’s, 17 BB & 20 runs allowed (15 earned)
- Gage Stanifer, SR (Westfield) – Pitching: 5-2 record, 0.74 ERA, 38 IP, 83 K’s, 32 BB, 10 hits allowed, 16 runs (4 earned)
