John William Vokt

February 7, 1942 – March 27, 2022

John William Vokt, 80, Noblesville, went to his Heavenly home on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at his home. He was born on February 7, 1942, to William and Iroline (Evans) Vokt in Adair, Iowa.

John proudly served his country as a 1st Lieutenant Qtr. Master Corp. in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He married Rita Hatwich on October 10, 1964, and he worked in management for JC Penney. John was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, where he served in several offices and sang in the Chancel Choir. He enjoyed driving FEMA trailers to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. John was a Mr. Fix-It handyman. He was also known for his Papa’s Eggs by his grandchildren. For 11 years, John and Rita wintered in Bradenton, Fla., at Horseshoe Cove where he enjoyed golf and horseshoes. John served on the HOA board for his neighborhood, Emerald Village. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

John is survived by his wife, Rita Vokt; daughters, Kelli Vokt Tord of Fishers, and Kristi Vokt Knapp (Kevin) of Hinsdale, Ill.; grandchildren, Ciara Tord, Riley Knapp, Cassidy Tord, Tyler Knapp, and Alexa Knapp; as well as brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Holtz Fisher.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville. An additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., with funeral services at 11 a.m., on Monday, April 4, 2022, at Christ Lutheran Church, 10055 E. 186th St., Noblesville, with Rev. Adrian Piazza officiating. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
