Dear Editor:

There is one vote in the elections this fall that we think is really important for Indiana’s future – the vote for State Representative in District 29 (Noblesville and part of Fishers).

I attended public schools growing up in Wabash and graduated from IU; Sara went to public schools in Angola and got her bachelor’s degree at Ball State. We, and our classmates, got first-class educations that prepared us well for successful careers and happy lives.

For 10 years or more, it seems like there haven’t been strong voices in the statehouse supporting public schools. Even though nine of 10 Indiana kids are learning in our public schools, it seems our state representatives, intentionally or not, have us in a race to the bottom where the future of our grandkids is concerned. We need a lot more balance in these important discussions. It is clear to us that that experienced, balanced voice can come from Devon Wellington.

A vote for Devon Wellington won’t completely overturn the imbalance in our state government, but it will shine a light of experience and care where it is sorely needed. We don’t need more of the same old coasting downhill in neutral where our communities’ education is concerned. We need someone who can put the discussion in gear and come up with practical, affordable solutions: someone like Devon.
