Thomas Paul James Cogis

Thomas Paul James Cogis was born on December 10, 1954, in Rochester, Pa., and passed away on July 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Tom was a talented, compassionate, creative, and loyal man who was loved by many. His life was characterized by a deep commitment to his faith, family, and community.

Tom resided in Cicero and lived a dedicated life full of love and service to those around him. He was a soft-spoken man who will always be remembered for his warm smile and gentle manner.

As a young man, Tom moved from Pennsylvania to Indiana to pursue work in the buildings trade. He had a long career taking him to North Carolina and back, working as a truss designer. Beyond his professional life, Tom was an avid arrowhead hunter and collector, recognized numerous times for his impressive collection. He was a member of both the Indiana and Kentucky Archaeological Societies. He enjoyed hiking, golfing, and fishing. Tom was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He also enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters and attending their activities. He had two beloved dogs, Yoshi and Millie, who were never far from his side.

Tom married his love, Linda, on June 26, 2004, and together they created a home filled with joy and laughter. He was a man of strong faith and believed deeply in the power of a relationship with God. Tom was an Associate Pastor at Generations Church in Tipton and took great pride in preparing his sermons when given the opportunity to preach. The love he held for his family and friends was evident in every aspect of his life.

Tom is survived by his wife, Linda Cogis; his mother, Helen Cogis; his daughters, Alisha (Kevin) Miller and Kiley (Brian) Brodeur; his stepchildren, Melanie (LE) King, Sean (Lori) King, and Adam (Shannon) Carey; his grandchildren, Brandon, Zachary (Nicole), Lynlee, Anna, Kaley (Jess), Jordan, Colten, Braydon, Mason (Ica), Ella, and Thomas; great-grandchildren Gabriel, Luke, Claire, Davina, and Emmalyn; his brothers, John Stephen (BJ) Cogis and Michael (Sherri) Cogis, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, John Cogis.

Visitation for Tom will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2026, at Hartley-Dunnichay Funeral Home, 209 W. Jackson St., Cicero. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Travis Morrisett officiating. Services are under the direction of Hartley-Dunnichay Funeral Homes – Cicero.
