County claims three Age Group State champions

Three Hamilton County golfers were among the winners in their division at the Buffy & Alice Mayerstein Age Group Championship, which took place last Wednesday and Thursday, July 1 and 2, at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth.

Fishers’ Gavin Davis was the winner of the Boys 14 group, scoring a seven under par 137. Davis made an eagle on the second day along with 10 birdies. Carmel’s Max Huffman tied for second with 145, draining seven birdies.

Austin Carter led a 1-2 Carmel finish in the Boys 13 group. Carter totaled 153 with three birdies for the tournament. Luke Moore was second with 156 and one birdie.

Fishers’ Carsen Fegan was the Boys 12 champion, totaling 145. Fegan made six birdies in his round.

There were several third-place finishers from the county. Westfield’s Jude Kaufman and Bubba Chapman tied for third in the Boys 17 group, while Noblesville’s Luke Decker tied for third in the Boys 16 division. Another Noblesville golfer, MacKenzie DeMarco, placed third in Boys 12.

Carmel’s Allie Thompson placed second in the Girls 17 group, scoring 156 and making one birdie. Noblesville’s Lauren Turpin took second in Girls 16, collecting nine birdies along the way.

Fishers’ Mallory Jaske was the Girls 15 runner-up, scoring 156 with two birdies. Westfield’s Addison Simpson finished second in Girls 12 with 188.

Westfield’s Sophie Raines placed third in the Girls 17 group with 150.
