This partnership between the Hamilton County Harvest (HCH) Food Bank and 4-H beef, dairy, and swine project members will help HCH purchase and process beef and dairy cattle and swine animals at the Hamilton County 4-H Livestock Auction, this year set for July 21.
Nineteen 4-H members have designated their animals towards “Meating” the Need.
“Meating” the Need started in 2016 as a pilot program to provide needed protein for local food pantries. 2025’s program provided 5,500 pounds of meat that supplied local food pantries all across Hamilton County.
“Meating” the Need has highlighted the need to provide protein year-round. HCH Food Bank regularly now provides protein to the county’s pantries throughout the year. Your monetary donations are needed to make this happen.
How to help “Meat” the Need in 2026
Any donation amount is appreciated; if you donate $250 or more by June 15, you will be recognized on the 4-H Fair Barn Banner, and in local press.
Donate by making a check payable to Hamilton County Harvest Food Bank with “Meating the Need” in the memo line. Send it to:
