Weekend ramp & lane closures planned to open new Binford Boulevard ramp

New traffic pattern on I-69 expected Sunday, May 3

The REPORTER

The new ramp from southbound Interstate 69 to southbound Binford Boulevard is expected to open on or after Sunday, May 3. To prepare, Clear Path crews will implement several weekend closures and lane restrictions, followed by a new traffic pattern for drivers on southbound I-69.

Weekend closures & restrictions

Drivers can expect the following restrictions beginning Friday night:

Friday, May 1 around 9 p.m. to Sunday, May 3 by 6 a.m.

  • Ramp from southbound I-69 to southbound Binford Boulevard closed
  • Ramp from 96th Street to southbound I-69 closed
  • Ramp from 82nd Street to southbound I-465 closed

Friday, May 1 around 11 p.m. to Saturday, May 2 by 6 a.m.

  • Ramp from southbound I-69 to southbound I-465 closed. Signed Detour: Southbound I-69 to westbound I-465 and turn around at Michigan Road (U.S. 421)
  • Southbound I-69 reduced to one lane between 116th Street and the I-465/I-69 interchange

Saturday, May 2 around 6 a.m. to Sunday, May 3 by 6 a.m.

  • Ramp from southbound I-69 to westbound I-465 closed. Signed Detour: Southbound I-69 to eastbound I-465 and turn around at Pendleton Pike (U.S. 36).
  • Southbound I-69 reduced to two lanes between 116th Street and the I-465/I-69 interchange

New traffic pattern begins Sunday, May 3

Crews will stripe pavement, move barrier wall, and adjust overhead signage to open the ramp and shift southbound I-69 traffic to new roadway. Beginning on or after Sunday, May 3, there will be a new traffic pattern for drivers on southbound I-69:

  • Drivers traveling from southbound I-69 to southbound Binford Boulevard or westbound I-465 should keep right before reaching 96th Street (The current Binford Boulevard exit is on the far left).
  • Drivers traveling from southbound I-69 to southbound I-465 should keep left before reaching 96th Street.

Overnight & daytime restrictions this week

In addition to the weekend work, overnight and daytime restrictions will continue this week as crews prepare for the traffic shift:

Tuesday, April 28 (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.)

  • Ramp from southbound I-69 to southbound Binford closed
  • One lane closed on northbound Binford and northbound I-69 between the I-465/I-69 interchange and 96th Street

Tuesday, April 28 at 9 p.m. to Wednesday, April 29 at 4 p.m.

  • Ramp from eastbound I-465 to southbound Binford Boulevard reduced to one lane

Wednesday, April 29 and Thursday, April 30 (8 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly)

  • Ramp from southbound I-69 to southbound Binford closed
  • One lane closed on northbound Binford and northbound I-69 between the I-465/I-69 interchange and 96th Street

Drivers should expect delays and seek alternate routes when possible. Actual dates and anticipated work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances occur. Emergency access will be maintained during the work.
