Central Indiana’s largest office park unveils new green space for tenants
On Wednesday, April 22, Carmel Gateway celebrated the grand opening of the West Lawn in the heart of its more than 1 million square-foot campus. The project is part of a broader initiative to convert approximately 2.25 acres of asphalt into amenity-rich outdoor lawn space.
The Carmel Gateway West Lawn, 600 E. 96th St., features a terraced amphitheater with limestone block seating, ample green space for events such as farmers markets, and a pergola with modern audio/visual equipment to host corporate presentations, a speaker series, and musical performances.
The Grand Opening event, held notably on Earth Day, included live music from a Carmel Symphony Orchestra quintet, opening remarks from Carmel Mayor Sue Finkam, Carmel Gateway senior property manager Patrick Moyers, and Carmel-based influencer Chelsea Koppelman, who kicked off Carmel Gateway’s summer speaker series.
The event also featured activations for more than 3,100 on-site employees, provided picnic lunches and opportunities to enjoy the outdoors on Earth Day.
“This is a milestone worth celebrating as we transform what was once asphalt into an incredibly-designed green space to be used by Carmel Gateway tenants,” Moyers said. “In the spirit of Earth Day, the West Lawn creates a place where tenants can step outside, recharge and connect during their workday. It’s a change to the landscape that makes a big difference for our community.”
Complementing this space is Carmel Gateway East Lawn, which was developed and opened near the 800 and 900 Carmel Gateway office buildings. The East Lawn, which broke ground in tandem with the West Lawn, offers an expansive flex-use green space nestled into a lush landscape. The space includes a picnic area, food truck parking, swing seats, relaxation zones and electric vehicle charging stations for tenants to utilize during the workday.
“The City of Carmel has invested for decades in quality of life improvements like trail networks, green spaces, pocket parks and big, amazing parks,” Mayor Finkam said. “We felt like having this at the entrance to Carmel is a wonderful way to say welcome. You’re valued, and we want you to stay, live and play in Carmel.”
Carmel Gateway has completed several on-site upgrades to campus such as an amenity building featuring a private fitness club and executive conference rooms, fully renovated designer lobbies and restrooms, gated pickleball courts, and an on-site café with catering and an extensive menu. The thoughtfully designed outdoor meeting and gaming area, known as Village Green, serves as a central hub for connection, collaboration, and recreation on campus.
Carmel Gateway is owned by affiliates of Philadelphia-based Rubenstein Partners, L.P., a registered investment advisor and fund manager, and leased by Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), a global provider of real estate and investment management services.
