Hamilton Heights concluded their back-to-back weekend on the road just northeast of Muncie in Portland to face Jay County on Saturday, Feb. 21.

Unfortunately, the Class 3A No. 12 Patriots used a big second half to overcome the Huskies, 67-60.

The Huskies got off to a good start with a 14-12 lead. They carried the momentum through the second for a 19-15 quarter to stay up by a 33-27 halftime score.

The Patriots flipped the script in the second half. They woke up on both ends of the floor, holding Heights in check 20-8 and took the lead 47-41.

Jay County’s offense kept going in the fourth with a 20-19 advantage to stay ahead of the Huskies for the seven-point win.

Rees Knapp led with 15 points, followed by Jack Kakasuleff joining in double digits with 12 and five assists. Jackson Mikesell (nine), Will DeStefano and Drew Woodruff seven each and Austin Day all chipped in for a balanced effort.
