The YMCA of Greater Indianapolis announces the appointment of Mallory Trusty, PhD, as its new Chief People Officer (CPO), effective Monday, Sept. 22.

In this senior leadership role, Dr. Trusty will serve on the YMCA’s Strategic Leadership Team, where she will guide people-centered strategies to strengthen organizational effectiveness, talent development, cultural alignment, and operational excellence. Her leadership will be instrumental in positioning the YMCA as an “Employer of Choice” and ensuring that its workforce thrives while advancing the Y’s vision of a healthier, more equitable, and more connected community.
Dr. Trusty brings more than 15 years of progressive leadership experience in human resources, organizational development and global talent strategy. Most recently, she served as Vice President of OP Experience at OrthoPediatrics, where she oversaw HR functions for 1,000 associates around the globe. She developed and executed enterprise-wide programs in recruitment, succession planning, performance management, and diversity strategy. She also played a pivotal role in preparing OrthoPediatrics for its Initial Public Offering in 2017 and later served on the OrthoWorx Board of Directors (2023-2025).
Dr. Trusty started her career in Human Resources at Zimmer, Inc., where she supported large-scale organizational restructuring and global workforce development. She has also shared her expertise in leadership education as an adjunct instructor at Purdue Global, Fort Hays State University, and North Central College.
Dr. Trusty holds a PhD in Global Leadership & Organizational Development from Indiana Institute of Technology, a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Purdue University. She also completed executive education in Women’s Leadership at Yale University.
